Sunday saw the latest round in the WRR 2023 club champs - The Richard Burton 10km. Not only a great local event in a small community, but also a strong running field and a testing, scenic route - showcasing the best of the Afan Valley. All proceeds of the event going to charity too.

2,332 entrants took part and WRR were well represented with 9 members in action – most enjoying the event for the first time.

The route starts off flat, leading you into a false sense of security for the first 1.5 miles before then hitting some bumps which continued for most of the next 3 miles. The last 1.5 miles or so was a well-earned downhill section back to the start/ finish area. You certainly earn your Welsh cake, t-shirt and slate coaster.

Very lucky to have good weather conditions after recent storms/ rain/ high winds, there was even some blue sky and sun!

Overall, a great event and one that's sure to feature in future Club Championships. Congratulations to all those who ran and thanks to Jill for supporting.
