3 WRR members trekked slightly east to take on the Magor 10k for the first time
Unusual to have a race on a Saturday and not be involved in a parkrun, the Magor 10k
offered a flat 10k route. If you have previously taken part in a Rose Inn event, a
Newport marathon and/or Lliswerry 8 event then parts of the route were familiar.
Advance notice of available facilities meant that parking was not an issue on the day
with most being less than a 10 minute walk to the start area. Disappointingly the Undy
FC clubhouse was closed so it was a bit of a queue for all runners with only 1 male
and 1 female toilet available
The event was put on by Chepstow Harriers and it had very much a club event feel
about it with c250 runners from mostly local clubs taking part, all proudly in their
club colours. Whilst there were some quick kids taking part there was also a good mix
of running abilities which meant the race spread out fairly quickly.
Not the best of weather for the run with constant drizzle but a medal, banana, water
and cereal bar at the finish for what was a cheap race
Definitely one to consider doing in future years.
